Alex and Jack first met each other in 2009, through mutual friends, and were inseparable from that day forward. Two years later, in front of friends and family, Jack proposed to Alex. This past Saturday, under beautiful blue skies, overlooking the 18th green at Trump National Golf Club, Alex and Jack said “I do” to each other atop a waterfall. I was lucky enough to be there to cover the day for them.
In the days leading up to the wedding both Alex and I were trying to make sense of Saturday’s weather forecast. Three different weather websites all said three different things. Luckily, the rain that was previously in the forecast stayed far away from the 250 close friends and family members in attendance.
The day started out at the Donovan House in DC where the bridal party, in their matching monogrammed shirts, got their hair and makeup done while sipping Starbucks, mimosas, and enjoying some Jimmy John’s subs. The groomsmen relaxed by the pool with their friends and family because, as you know, guys are always ready to go with minimal primping. After a quick drive to Trump, it was showtime. The adorable flower girl proudly shouted “I did it!!!!!” after walking up the aisle and before long Alex and Jack were now husband and wife.
At dinner guests were treated to amazing toasts by Alex’s father, Jack’s brother and finally a beautiful letter, that had been written much prior to the wedding, read by Jack to his new bride. The new couple danced to the music of the Winn Brothers before another local band, Burnt Sienna, filled the dance floor with an amazing set.
Of all weddings I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of, this was by far the biggest yet. In addition to the large number of guests, Alex and Jack’s wedding boasted the largest bridal party I have photographed. Ever. 14 beautiful bridesmaids in knee length black strapless dresses, and 14 sockless (well, 13) groomsmen in white jackets all stood by their friends as they exchanged vows amid the scenic course.
